The home of the current building stock is due to Gérard Jacqua, architect of the buildings of France. It is rebuilding the same and on its foundations of origin of the Chamber of commerce destroyed by eruptions of 1902. This reconstruction was to objectives:-to return a building, true archetype of Creole architecture and witness to the refinement and the prosperity of Saint-Pierre in the late 19th century.
-To offer the city a place of tourist information, exhibition and meetings - participate in the requalification of the Bertin square and the revitalization of the town centre it is today a municipal space assigned to the heritage - city of art and history service
