This cave was constructed in a movement of fervour aroused up to Martinique, with the 18 appearances of the Holy Virgin to a girl of 14 years Bernadette SOUBIROUS from February 11 to July 16, 1858 in Lourdes.
The owners of the “Habitation Belle Etoile” gave the priest, a location in order to construct it.
On the 8th of December 1904, the inauguration ceremony gave place to an immense feast, the procession spread itself on about 0.6 mile since the Bourg.
Nowadays, it is still visited by the pilgrims who take the water of the spring. Pilgrimage to the cave take place the 11 of February, the 19 of March and each third Sunday after Easter.
